About ULM SDGs
The SDGs Center of ULM in South Kalimantan Province was established at the initiative of the Provincial Development Planning Agency of South Kalimantan and Lambung Mangkurat University, aimed at integrating the principles of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into higher education. This SDGs Center functions as a center for research, education, and community service that focuses on achieving the 17 SDGs goals agreed upon by the United Nations. With the establishment of the SDGs Center, higher education institutions can play an active role in promoting sustainable development through various programs and activities relevant to the SDGs.
The SDGs Center ULM has distinct characteristics focusing on sustainable development in the South Kalimantan region, which faces specific challenges such as peatland degradation, natural resource exploitation, as well as flood disaster mitigation due to climate change and sustainable wetland management. The SDGs Center ULM stands out with its tropical ecosystem-based approach and local wisdom in designing sustainability solutions, including in the forestry sector, sustainable agriculture, and the management of water resources unique to the swamp and coastal areas.
